The giants of Africa will assemble in December through to January 2026 where 24 countries will slug it out for honours at the Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco.
One of the powerhouses that will be missing at the tournament is Ghana but their former captain, Asamoah Gyan has expressed confidence in defending champions Ivory Coast, Nigeria who missed out on the World Cup qualification and Morocco to clinch the AFCON title.
Ghana will be missing at the 2025 AFCON after failing to qualify:
“I think we’ve got a lot of giants who are going there. Ghana is out which we are very disappointed but it is okay we have qualified for the World Cup.”
“Nigeria did well, they were close last two years. Ivory Coast did well so we have a lot of teams. Morocco is also a strong contender who are also doing well. I will say these three countries that I have mentioned, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Morocco are favourites,” Gyan said at the 2025 CAF Awards.
The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations begins on December 21 and ends on January 18, 2026.
