The curtain has officially fallen on the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2025, which concluded with Senegal lifting the trophy after defeating hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Senegal secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Morocco in the final, as the Teranga Lions claimed their second continental title and added a second star to their shirt.
Until the final, the competition has produced 121 goals in 52 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 2.33 goals per game, a clear reflection of the attacking approach adopted by many of the participating teams.
This edition of the AFCON featured some of the biggest stars in African and world football, including Egypt captain Mohamed Salah, Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, Senegal’s Sadio Mané, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, Morocco’s Brahim Diaz, and South Africa’s Lyle Foster, all battling for continental glory.
The race for the Golden Boot is also heating up, with several players making a strong impact in front of goal.
