The curtain has officially fallen on the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2025, which concluded with Senegal lifting the trophy after defeating hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Senegal secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Morocco in the final, as the Teranga Lions claimed their second continental title and added a second star to their shirt. The win marked Senegal’s second AFCON triumph, having previously won the title in 2022 at the expense of Egypt, while this time overcoming the Atlas Lions on Moroccan soil.
Morocco’s hopes of winning the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 1976 came to an end, extending their wait for a second continental crown to 50 years.
