AFCON-bound Amad Diallo says Man United disappointed with draw

Ivory Coast international Amad Diallo has admitted Manchester United were gutted not to get a win from their pulsating 4-4 Premier League draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday.

United enjoyed a dream start when Amad opened the scoring in the opening stages of the game. Antoine Semenyo brought Bournemouth back level, but Casemiro’s close-range header ensured the Reds were in front at half-time.

Two quickfire Bournemouth goals straight after the restart from Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier turned the game on its head. But United responded with two more, one after the other, from Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha in front of the Stretford End.

However, substitute Junior Kroupi scored to end the game 4-4.

‘The worst one was to lose this game’

“You can’t see straight away in the dressing room, everyone was very disappointed because we know as a team, we can do much better,” said Diallo while speaking MUTV as quoted by the club’s official website.

“We knew we can win this game today, but [it’s] a big disappointment that we take one point and [we’re] thinking about the next game. I think when we conceded the goal, the two goals straight away in the second half, we had that pressure to come [back] into the game.

“We did the 4-3, but it’s a big disappointment we didn’t win this game because if we win this game, we are better in the league [table “” not found /]
. But it’s not bad also to draw. The worst one was to lose this game. So, we’re going to take one point and prepare the next game.”

The Reds will now look towards Sunday’s Premier League clash away at Aston Villa but will be without Amad Diallo and Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo, who will travel to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco.
