Théo Bongonda says DR Congo must work hard in order to realise the dream of winning the 2025 African Cup of Nations. The Russia-based winger called on his teammates to be vigilant during the 2025 AFCON.
DR Congo are in Group D, drawn alongside Senegal, Benin, and Botswana. They will play Benin in their opening AFCON game. Bongonda, a DR Congo international since 2022, says the Leopards need to take the games one by one.
“In Africa, every match is difficult. We will start by focusing on Tuesday’s match, and then we will see what happens,” Bongonda told B-One Television.
DR Congo have had an amazing 2025, as they are on the brink of qualification for the FIFA World Cup. The Spartak Moscow winger believes DR Congo can win the tournament with proper work. “We have a great mindset, and we can’t wait to start the competition. We will take it one game at a time and try to go all the way in the competition.”
The Belgium-born player made five appearances in all competitions for the Russian capital club. He is expected to start games for DR Congo in the 2025 AFCON.
