AFCON friendly: Ghana coach Kassim Mingle promises stiff opposition against South Africa

Head coach of Ghana’s senior team B, Kassim Mingle has promised to give South Africa a stiff opposition in their international friendly on Tuesday, December 16.

The Black Galaxies will face off against Bafana Bafana, a game that will test the one time African champions before they move to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa, who won the continental trophy in 1996 for the first time on home soil, have been paired in Group B against record holders Egypt, Angola and neighbors Zimbabwe at the next edition in Morocco.

South Africa head coach Hugo Broos needs an opposition that will help sharpen his squad for the competition and Ghana’s Kassim Mingle has reacted to that challenge.

“This game is an opportunity for the Black Galaxies to prove that they are a very good side. I’m happy to have this friendly, but my team is not under any pressure. We believe in building, and that is exactly what I am doing,” he said in a pre-match press conference.

Ghana captain Razak Simpson has expressed the team’s readiness ahead of the game.
“We are approaching the game against Bafana Bafana with full seriousness and confidence in our abilities. My teammates have shown great eagerness and readiness for the challenge,” Simpson said.

Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, are guests of Bafana Bafana on Tuesday at the Dobsonville Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 2:00 pm.
