South African club Chippa United have made their feelings clear to their Nigerian first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

The Super Eagles’ number one played a decisive role during a third-place play-off against Egypt at ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Saturday, saving two penalties in the shootout as they edged the Pharaohs 4-2 to claim the bronze medal following a 0-0 draw.

Nwabali was named man-of-the match after producing strong saves to deny Premier League stars Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush from the penalty spot.

The splendid performance between the sticks did not escape the attention of the Betway Premiership club, where he continues to excel with the Chilli Boys.

Little wonder, the Port Elizabeth-based club took to its official social media platforms to congratulate Nwabali.

“Congratulations to our Stanley Nwabali for securing Third Place in the AFCON and getting MOTM. You have done exceptionally great for your country,” their social media accounts said.

The Nigerian keeper has since dedicated the man-of-the match award to his team mates, saying the work so hard and deserve better.

Nigeria lost also on post-match penalties to Morocco in a semifinal match to settle for the third-place play-off. The Atlas Lions meet the Teranga Lions of Senegal in the final on Sunday.
