Ghana striker Abednego Tetteh has tipped Sudan to make a strong impact at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Tetteh, who had spells with Al Hilal Omdurman and Hilal El Obied over a combined two seasons, has played with a number of the Sudanese players who are heading to the continental showpiece under the guidance of Ghana trainer, James Kwesi Appiah.
Sudan qualified for the tournament after placing second in Group F with eight points, six behind winners Angola. Niger finished third in the group on seven points with Ghana ending the qualifiers bottom on three points.
“Sudan can do well if they continue to do what they are doing now they can do well because I say about ninety percent of the players play in the [CAF] Champions League [almost] every year so they have the experience,” Abednego Tetteh told Pan-Africa Football.
“But I don’t think they can lift the cup, if they lift the cup I will be very happy but performing well, I know they can perform very well.
“I know about seven players in the team that are very good players, so I am very happy to see them qualify for the AFCON. I wish them good luck and I know they will perform well.”
The Falcons of Jediane who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1970 as hosts, will look to do better this term after missing out on qualification for the 2023 edition in Ivory Coast.
Sudan are paired in Group E at the Africa Cup of Nations alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea for the tournament that is set between December 21 and January 18.
