Tunisia national team head coach Sami Trabelsi has announced his squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is due to take place in Morocco.
Trabelsi included a few players from the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, where the Carthage Eagles failed the group stage test. Tunisia are up against 2023 AFCON runners-up Nigeria, Uganda, and Tanzania in Group C.
Trabelsi summoned 28 players for AFCON 2025, with familiar names dominating the squad. The Tunisian trainer included veteran Ali Maaloul. The CS Sfaxien left back started games for Tunisia during the Arab Cup as recently as last week. Germany-based Elyes Skhiri and England-based Hannibal Mejbri will also participate in the AFCON.
The midfield is composed of veteran players like Ferjani Sassi. OGC Nice defender Ali Abdi also received a deserved call-up. Other defenders are Dylan Bronn and Montassar Talbi. With a mixture of foreign- and local-based players, Tunisia hopes to go far in the competition.
Tunisia last won AFCON in 2004 on home soil. Tunisia will open their campaign against Uganda on December 23rd.
