Sierra Leone goalkeeper Mamadou Walle Jalloh has sung the praise of his teammates following their battling 0-0 draw against Zambia in the opening fixture of CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt on Sunday.

The Shooting Stars, who are making their first appearance in the tournament, posted an impressive performance at the Cairo international Stadium in their Group A fixture but were unable to break down the resilient Young Chipolopolo side.

“Our team gives me great pride,” said Jalloh in the post-game interview. “Although it was a hard game against a good team, I think we played better as a group. We were unfortunate not to get a win. Our team gives me credit and pride.”

When asked about his composure during several occasions when Zambia was on the break, the IF Bromby goalkeeper replied: “I am always focused and aware of counterattacks in game situations, because of those moments, I think I did very well with the support of my teammates.”

Sierra Leone's next match is against the host nation Egypt, who defeated South Africa 1-0 at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, topping the table.
