South Africa legend Mark Williams has urged the Rainbow nation to rally behind Bafana Bafana at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
South Africa are paired in Group B alongside Egypt, Angola and neighbours Zimbabwe and they will open their tournament against Angola before taking on record champions Egypt and finally Zimbabwe to wrap up the group.
Williams, who was a member of South Africa’s squad that won its first Africa Cup of Nations on home soil in 1996, says the team can make a huge impact at the tournament when they have the country’s support.
“The squad is there, the coach is there, just that they need to believe but it starts with us – we need to believe that they can do it. If we do that, they can go all the way to win the trophy,” said Williams.
Bafana will play one more pre-tournament friendly against Ghana at the Dobsonville stadium on December 16 before departing for Morocco on Wednesday.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is between December 21 and January 18 with 24 countries set to battle for honours.
