African clubs to pocket millions from 2025 Club World Cup

On Tuesday, 25th March, World football governing body FIFA revealed the prize money of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament will have 32 clubs participating after FIFA introduced a new format, with Africa's four participating clubs set to pocket millions in the inaugural revamped version of the competition..
FIFA has confirmed the distribution model for its new club competition that includes USD $1 billion in prize money for the 32 participating clubs plus a substantial and groundbreaking global solidarity model. Al Ahly of Egypt, Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis, Moroccan titans Wydad Athletic Club and perennial South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns are the flag bearers of Africa in the upcoming Club World Cup.
“The distribution model of the FIFA Club World Cup reflects the pinnacle of club football and represents the biggest-ever prize money for a football tournament comprising a seven-match group stage and playoff format with a potential payout of USD $125 million foreseen for the winners,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
African clubs spend much on travel and accommodation while competing in CAF competitions. The Club World Cup will be a lucrative new source of income for the four African clubs.
