Three African players are in the mix as OGC Nice confirmed their Player of the Season nominees. The Southern France outfit is still vying for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League and the role of African players has been particularly noticeable during the 2024/25 French Ligue 1 campaign.

Algerian international Hicham Boudaoui, Burundian defender Youssouf Ndayishimiye, and Ivorian striker Evann Guessand are among the seven players nominated for the accolade this season.

The 25-year-old central midfielder Boudaoui featured in 27 league matches and scored twice. His presence has been vital to Franck Haise’s side in their push for a European place. Boudaoui is in his sixth season at Nice and continues to be a key figure for both club and country.

Ndayishimiye also delivered strong performances this season. The Burundian center-back, currently sidelined with a long-term injury, is fondly remembered for scoring the third goal in Nice’s 3-1 victory over Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, ending their unbeaten run.

Guessand has enjoyed a resurgence with OGC Nice. The talented striker scored eleven goals and provided six assists, making him the club’s leading goal contributor this season.

Voting is already underway as the three African stars hope to secure the accolade and succeed Marcin Bulka as OGC Nice’s Player of the Season.
