An agent for Zimbabwe star Khama Billiat has confirmed that his client has attracted strong interest from top teams in South Africa and beyond the borders after recapturing form.
Billiat's manager Godfrey Bakasa confirmed the development to Pan-Africa Football as Billiat’s season-long contract with Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier League side Yadah FC ends next month.
“Interest is always there not from RSA clubs only but in the region and far,” Bakasa said in an interview from Harare.
The agent fell short of disclosing the potential suitors, especially in South Africa where the 34-year-old made a name at Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
“It is something we shall look into when his contract expires this December,” Bakasa insisted.
The Warriors’ winger has revived his career after signing for Yadah FC midway through this year following his exit from South Africa where he passed up an opportunity to renew his stay with Chiefs.
Billiat finished as the second leading league scorer in Zimbabwe while also transferring his scintillating form to the national team, leading them to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The wide midfielder was influential in helping the Warriors return to the continental football showpiece after grabbing an assist in the decisive one-all draw with Kenya’s Harambee Stars on Friday.
The ex-Sundowns player scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists for Yadah FC, two goals behind the leading scorer, prompting the Warriors coach Michael Nees to recall him in August this year. Speaking to Zimbabwe’s ZTN Prime television station in August, the German said he considered several factors such as the player’s age, commitment and hunger to represent his nation again.
