Ahmed Musa assumes new role as Kano Pillars GM

On Monday, Nigeria national team captain Ahmed Musa has assumed his role as the new General Manager of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars, unveiling a strategic vision for the club.

In a meeting with the club’s chairman and board members, Musa emphasized the need for professionalism, and long-term planning to drive the club’s revival.

The Kano Pillars captain also pledged to use his international experience to reposition the four-time NPFL champions.

“With your support and the backing of the board, I will do everything possible to reposition this club and make it one of the finest—not only in Africa but globall.”

Musa however will continue playing for Kano Pillars despite his current status in the club, as the 32-year-old trained with his teammates at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Tuesday July 8, 2925 and is set to lead the team’s attack in the 2025/26 season.

His appointment by the Kano State Government is seen as a strategic move to professionalize club management and align Kano Pillars with international football standards.

A former player for top European clubs such as Leicester City and CSKA Moscow, Musa returns to Kano Pillars with a commitment to fostering collaboration among stakeholders, supporters, and players.

The Sai Masu Gida are yet to appoint a substantive technical adviser following the exit of Usman
