Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli has expressed keen interest in signing Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi with the Nigerian international expected to depart the King Power Stadium this summer following Leicester City’s recent relegation from the Premier League.
The 28-year-old, who still has two years remaining on his contract, reportedly has a £9 million release clause, making him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking midfield reinforcement. According to Al-Riyadiya, Al Ahli has already initiated contact with Ndidi's representatives, hoping to persuade him to make the switch to Asia. Interestingly, Al Ahli is also reportedly pursuing Ndidi's international teammate Victor Osimhen.
Ndidi joined Leicester City from Belgian side Genk in January 2017 and quickly established himself as a vital cog in the Foxes' midfield. He was renowned for his exceptional ball-winning abilities, interceptions, and tactical intelligence, which significantly elevated Leicester City's defensive solidity and overall balance.
The Nigerian Midfielder has made 300 appearances for Leicester City across all competitions, scoring a total of 18 goals across all competitions and providing 13 assists. He had consistently be ranked among the top tacklers in the Premier League for several seasons, showcasing his incredible defensive work rate.
Ndidi's impact on Leicester City was profound, particularly in his primary role as a defensive midfielder. He provided a crucial shield for the backline, allowing more attacking players to flourish.
Ndidi played a pivotal role in Leicester City's historic FA Cup triumph in 2021 and their subsequent Community Shield victory. He also helped the Foxes secure promotion back to the Premier League as Championship winners in the 2023-24 season.
