Watch: Al Ahly ends winless run with victory over Ceramica Cleopatra in Nile Egyptian League

Al Ahly put an end to their recent struggles with a narrow but vital 1-0 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra at Cairo International Stadium, in Round 7 of the Nile Egyptian League.

The decisive moment arrived in the 26th minute when Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet produced a piece of individual brilliance. Linking up neatly with Ashraf Bencharki in a one-two, the winger burst into space before firing a precise shot into the corner to hand the hosts the breakthrough.

Trezeguet’s celebration carried extra significance. After sparking controversy in the previous match with a “silencing” gesture that was perceived as a response to his critics, the Egypt international instead turned directly to the stands this time, applauding the Al Ahly faithful in a clear attempt to reconcile with the supporters amid a difficult spell for the team and the player.

The victory marked Al Ahly’s first league win after three games without success—drawing with Ghazl El Mahalla and ENPPI, and falling to Pyramids. It was a timely response to growing pressure, as the defending champions aim to claw their way back into contention.

With the three points, Al Ahly climbed to 9 points, moving up to 10th in the table. Ceramica Cleopatra, who remain on 10 points, sit 8th in the table.
