Al Ahly claimed their first-ever victory in the Egyptian League Cup (Egypt Capital Cup) after edging past Ceramica Cleopatra with a 1-0 win in Friday night’s clash, played at the Arab Contractors Stadium, as part of the second round of the group stage.
The decisive goal came in the 36th minute, when Taher Mohamed Taher met a cross from Omar Kamal, heading the ball past goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam to secure all three points for the Red Devils.
After the win, Al Ahly moved up to three points and sit third in Group A. Meanwhile, Ceramica Cleopatra are in the bottom of the group with zero points, having suffered their second consecutive defeat in the competition.
In another match, Al Masry secured a narrow 1-0 victory over ZED FC in Group C, with Mohamed El Shamy scoring the winning goal in the 54th minute.
Elsewhere, Pharco FC defeated Ghazl El Mahalla by a 1-0 scoreline in Group A and stay at the top of the group.
Meanwhile, Petrojet also claimed a 1-0 win against Ismaily in Group B.
