Ahly head coach Marcel Koller emphasized that his team started the match against Ismaily strongly, created several dangerous chances, and managed to score an early goal from a penalty.
The Swiss coach believes that the team deserved to finish the first half with more than one goal. Ahly secured a 4-0 victory on Sunday over Ismaily in the 14th round of the Nile Egyptian League.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Koller shared his thoughts and here are his statements as reported by Ahly’s official website:
The head coach said:
"A 1-0 scoreline is always deceptive. I warned the players at halftime, and we managed to score a second goal to prevent the opponent from making a comeback. We fully deserved this victory."
He added:
"I’m pleased with Mohamed Abdullah’s performance, especially in the second half. He had a great game. The pitch conditions made ground play very difficult."
Koller highlighted that he adopted a different tactical approach, stating that the team has multiple attacking options and can rotate players in the front line depending on the match strategy. He also expressed his hope for better pitch conditions and larger crowds to enhance the atmosphere.
He concluded:
"We have a great responsibility towards the fans. We continuously prepare the players and work on getting everyone to adapt to our system, providing enjoyable football and achieving strong results, especially in big matches."
After this win, Ahly leads the Nile Egyptian League table with 32 points, two ahead of Pyramids, who still have a game to play this round against Modern Sport.
