CAF CL: Al Ahly coach hopes to continue winning run against Young Africans

Jess Thorup, head coach of Al Ahly Egypt, has underlined the importance of the upcoming CAF Champions League match against Tanzania’s Young Africans.

Al Ahly will host Young Africans on Friday at Borg El Arab Stadium, in the third round of the CAF Champions League group stage. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM GMT, in a crucial encounter between two sides level on points.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference according Al Ahly’s official website, Thorup said:
“We are preparing very well for the match, especially after a period in which several international players were absent. During that time, we relied on young players.”

He added:
“We have a tough game against a strong opponent who has the same number of points. We are aiming to give our best. The Al Ahly players trained with great intensity, and we are well prepared for this challenge.”

Torup emphasized that his full focus is on the Young Africans match, particularly with several new signings included in the squad for the game.

He continued:
“We had international players who were on national team duty, and this is something we accept and deal with realistically. Our goal now is to continue the winning run we achieved before the long break.”

Al Ahly will be looking to secure a vital victory as they qualify from the CAF Champions League group stage.

Group B standings:

2- Young Africans – 4 points.

3- AS FAR – 1 point.

4- JS Kabylie – 1 point.
