Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy affirmed the team’s readiness to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and achieve strong results in the global tournament, stressing that all players are highly focused and giving their maximum effort during group training sessions.

In statements quoted by Al Ahly’s official website, El Shenawy said:

“Tournament formats like this always require the full focus of the players, especially since we are currently in a closed training camp ahead of the competition. All team members are highly concentrated during training, and every player is eager to perform well and achieve results that will make Al Ahly fans proud.”

He added:

“Al Ahly will face strong teams in the Club World Cup, and every player is determined to secure victories. We’re certainly going into a tough opening match, and I told the players we are fortunate to play in such a game — especially against Inter Miami, which features a legendary player like Lionel Messi.”

“The opening match between Al Ahly and Inter Miami is drawing global media and fan attention. That will definitely be extra motivation for every player to deliver a strong performance in the game.”

He went on:

“Al Ahly is a team that plays collectively, and all players are focused. What matters most is that we give everything we have to show our strength. I always think about how to help my teammates win. I was fortunate to save some penalties in previous editions of the Club World Cup, and of course, I continue to work hard with the group. We ask God to grant us success in the end.”

“Certainly, all players are fully focused. The senior players speak with their teammates, and everyone understands the responsibility on their shoulders. We want to go as far as possible in the tournament, and we all know the true value of the Club World Cup, especially for Al Ahly fans.”

He continued:

“All the new players are strong additions and capable of making a difference for Al Ahly. Every new signing was someone we needed. They’ve already won titles before and definitely add great value to our quest for more trophies.”

“Of course, the responsibility is great on the senior players, especially Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Mohamed Hany, and Hussein El Shahat — they are my brothers, and we are one team. Trezeguet’s return will help us a lot both on and off the pitch. I say to him: ‘Welcome back to your home — thank God for your safe return.’”

When asked about the signing of Ahmed Sayed "Zizo", El Shenawy said:

“Absolutely, Zizo is a top star. We were always together in the Egypt national team, and he knows all the players at Al Ahly very well. I’m confident he will quickly adapt to the team’s system and help us win more titles.”

He added:

“Al Ahly fans are our biggest supporters. We always strive to make them happy, and the players give their utmost to do so. We’re looking forward to their support in the USA during the Club World Cup.”

“My best memory is definitely the match against Palmeiras of Brazil, when we secured the bronze medal in the 2021 edition of the tournament.”
