Al Ahly claimed an important 4-2 win against Al Masry in Matchday 5 of the Nile Egyptian League title phase.

Al Masry stunned Al Ahly early on, opening the scoring in the 6th minute through former Al Ahly striker Salah Mohsen, who headed the ball home after a defensive error.

Emam Ashour equalized for Al Ahly in the 35th minute with a shot from inside the box, following a smart low cross from Wessam Abou Ali. Taher Mohamed Taher then doubled Al Ahly’s lead in the third minute of first-half stoppage time, capitalizing on a goalkeeper error to slot the ball into an empty net.

This marked Taher’s fifth goal contribution in his last four games, with three goals and two assists. In the 58th minute, Wessam Abou Ali added a stunning third goal from a direct free-kick. The forward has now scored in three consecutive matches and contributed four goal involvements in his last three appearances (three goals and one assist).

Emam Ashour continued the scoring for Al Ahly with the fourth goal from a penalty in the 79th minute. With this brace, Ashour now leads the Nile League’s top scorer chart with 12 goals, one ahead of Zamalek’s Nasser Mansi and National Bank’s Osama Faisal.

Al Masry quickly pulled back a consolation goal as Fakhreddine Ben Youssef scored with a header in the 81st minute.

With this result, Al Ahly temporarily climb to the top of the Nile Egyptian League standings with 49 points, two points ahead of second-placed Pyramids, who still have a game to play in this round.
