Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has officially announced that he has renewed his contract with the club for two more seasons.

The announcement came as the team celebrated winning the 2024/2025 Nile Egyptian League title, finishing two points ahead of second-placed Pyramids after a commanding 6-0 victory over Pharco in the final round.

Speaking to Egypt’s ON Sport channel, El Shenawy said:

"We play for the club and for the fans. After we were eliminated in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, we made a vow among ourselves that the remaining six league matches would be treated like cup finals in order to win the title. We had full confidence that we would become champions."

He continued:

"There were a lot of things said around us, but the players stayed fully focused on the pitch. I congratulate the current technical staff led by Emad El Nahhas, the former coaching team led by Marcel Koller, the club’s board, and the fans who attended today’s match. This title is extremely, extremely precious."

About the contract renewal, El Shenawy confirmed that former sporting director Mohamed Ramadan had revealed that he signed a new contract with Al Ahly for the next two seasons.

In addition, El Shenawy revealed that he had spoken with the club’s current sporting director about allowing fans to celebrate the league title at the historic El-Tetsh Stadium, the team’s training ground and home.
