Al Ahly announced on Thursday that they have imposed a massive financial penalty—the largest in the club’s history—on midfielder Emam Ashour, after the player failed to travel with the squad to Tanzania to face Young Africans in the CAF Champions League.
In an official decision, Al Ahly confirmed that Emam Ashour has been fined EGP 1.5 million (nearly $32,000), suspended for two weeks, and ordered to train individually throughout the suspension period.
The latest punishment reinforces Al Ahly’s previous strict discipline, as the club has a history of imposing heavy fines on its players in various incidents over the years. Emam Ashour himself had previously been fined EGP 1 million in 2024.
With this latest decision, Emam Ashour now holds the record for the highest fine ever imposed by Al Ahly, despite the player’s status as one of the best players in the team, if not the best.
