Al Ahly set to play three halves in preseason opener

Egyptian champions Al Ahly SC will kick off their pre-season games with a friendly match against Stade Tunisien on July 21, as part of their training camp in Tunisia.

The match is scheduled to take place at 8:00 PM Cairo time, and will be held under special conditions, featuring three halves, each lasting 45 minutes.

This unusual format will give the coaching staff a chance to evaluate as many players as possible during the team’s first friendly of the new pre-season.

Al Ahly, who secured both the Egyptian Premier League and the Egyptian Super Cup titles last season, will play the game under the guidance of the new coach Jose Riveiro who managed the team only in three intense games in the 2025 Club World Cup.

This will be the club’s first appearance since their participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States last month. Al Ahly were eliminated in the group stage, finishing fourth in Group A due to goal difference behind third-placed FC Porto.
