Al Ahly striker Wessam Abou Ali believes he faced a challenge during the 2024/2025 season, emphasizing that he always gives 100% whenever he is on the pitch.
Al Ahly secured the Nile Egyptian League title for the 2024/2025 season after a dominant 6-0 victory over Pharco in the final round of the campaign. The star of the night was Wessam Abou Ali, who netted four goals in the match.
Speaking to ON Sport, Wessam Abou Ali said:
“We were given a gift in the last six matches. We are Al Ahly—a big club—and you can’t give Al Ahly a gift like that,” referring to Pyramids FC’s back-to-back defeats that opened the door for Al Ahly to claim the title by winning their final six matches, which they did.
He continued:
“We are a big team—whether I score, or Hussein El Shahat scores, or Achraf Bencharki, or Afsha—any player who plays fulfills his duties.”
Commenting on his familiarity with the Egyptian dialect, Wessam smiled:
“I’ve become Egyptian—I’ve spent a lot of time with Emam Ashour, Yasser Ibrahim, and Afsha.”
He added:
“The season was difficult for me at times, and as you know, sometimes in football, things just don’t go your way. But I want people to know that whenever I play, I give 100%. Sometimes the chances come and you score, sometimes they don’t—it’s all about luck and timing.”
“I just want the fans to know that the most important thing for me is to give my best, whether I score or not.”
