Egyptian giants Al Ahly have confirmed that winger Taher Mohamed will miss the next two matches at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup due to injury.
The club announced that the 28-year-old sustained a strain in the origin of his anterior thigh muscle, following medical tests conducted after Tuesday’s training session.
As a result, Taher will be ruled out of Al Ahly’s crucial upcoming group stage clashes against Brazil’s Palmeiras and Portugal’s Porto in the second and third rounds of the tournament.
The Red Devils kicked off their campaign with a goalless draw against Inter Miami, holding Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and company in the opening match of Group A.
Al Ahly’s next match is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, against Palmeiras. The game will kick off at 12:00 p.m. local time in the United States, 4:00 p.m. GMT, and 7:00 p.m. Cairo time.
The Club World Cup is currently taking place in the United States, with Al Ahly representing Africa once again as former CAF Champions League winners.
