Al-Hilal completed a sensational comeback in the Sudan Elite League title race, thrashing fierce rivals Al-Merrikh 4-0 in the decisive final round to secure the championship in stunning fashion.
Heading into the match, Al-Merrikh sat top of the table with a three-point lead and needed only a draw to seal the title, while Al-Hilal required nothing less than a win to snatch the crown.
At Al-Damer Stadium, Al-Hilal rose to the occasion with a dominant performance that left no doubt about their intentions. The Blue Wave stormed into a 3-0 lead by halftime before adding a fourth goal in the second half to complete a historic rout.
The goals came courtesy of Mohamed Abdelrahman, a brace from Abderraouf Yaacoub, and Walieldin “Pogba” Khidir.
This emphatic victory not only delivered Al-Hilal their 31st Sudan Premier League title but also marked their biggest-ever win over Al-Merrikh in an official competitive fixture.
Despite the loss, Al-Merrikh secured second place and, along with Al-Hilal, qualified for the CAF Champions League next season.
