Libyan Premier League: Al Ittihad defeat Al Majd 2-1 in dramatic opener

Al Ittihad secured a 2-1 victory over Al Majd in their opening match of the Libyan Premier League, played on Friday evening at the Industrial River Stadium in Tripoli, as part of the first round of the new season.

Al Majd took an early lead in the 17th minute through Egyptian striker Bassem Morsi, who found the back of the net to give his side the advantage. Al Ittihad responded before the break, with Moaz Issa scoring the equalizer in the 39th minute, sending the two teams into halftime level at 1-1.

The deadlock persisted throughout the second half until the 88th minute, when Moroccan substitute Nawfal Zerhouni produced a moment of brilliance, scoring directly from a corner kick to seal a dramatic late winner for Al Ittihad.

The victory hands Al Ittihad three points at the start of their campaign, marking an ideal beginning to the new Libyan Premier League season.
