Al Masry opened their CAF Confederation Cup group-stage campaign with a 2-1 victory over South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, securing an important three points.

Following the match, head coach Nabil Kouki expressed his satisfaction with the winning start.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, he said:

“I am happy with the win and securing the three points in the first match.”

Kouki explained that his staff analyzed the opposition, which allowed Al Masry to expose the weaknesses in the Chiefs’ system:

“We studied Kaizer Chiefs very well and succeeded in exploiting their weaknesses.”

He added that the game plan relied on dividing the match into specific phases:

“I divided the match into several stages, and our strategy resulted in achieving the victory.”

Due to absences, Al Masry coach mentioned the collective effort of his squad:

“Al Masry depends on teamwork in our performance, and therefore we managed to compensate for the absences efficiently.”

The coach highlighted the tactical adjustments made after halftime:

“We adjusted the positioning of our players in the second half, and the pressure led us to win.”

Looking ahead, Kouki said:

“We will start immediately preparing the players for the Zesco match, and recovery is our only weapon.”

He underlined the ambition of the team:

“We aim to collect the three points in all home matches of the group stage.”

Al Masry are set to face Zesco United next week, while Kaizer Chiefs will meet Zamalek in their upcoming group-stage fixture.
