The 24-year-old’s move to Al Ahly Benghazi was announced on the night Asante Kotoko were pummeled 5-1 by Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco in the second leg of their clash from CAF Confederation Cup qualifying in Casablanca.
The former Great Olympics forward, however, failed to settle in the North African nation, prompting a return to where it all started on loan for the rest of the season.
Amoah discussed why he returned to the record Ghana Premier League holders ahead of the remainder of the domestic top flight campaign.
“I decided that I want to come back to Kotoko so that I will just finish everything that I started so that I will be ok. Winning the league is also part of my journey and I was happy when the time came for me to choose the team that I want to go on loan so I decided to come back so that we can work hard and claim it,” Amoah told Kotoko TV.
Asante Kotoko currently in fourth on the league table with 32 points same as sworn rivals Hearts of Oak and two time champions Aduana FC after 19 games and Albert remains confident that the league title chase is far from over.
“I think when you look at the table it’s not over, there are more matches to play so there is nothing to give up and I think we are going to work very hard and make it to the top as our supporters want us to do and I am really happy to be here so that we can work together as a team so that we can achieve what we want.”
Amoah scored 15 goals in 29 appearances prior to signing for Al Ahly Benghazi but only featured in friendly games for the club before returning home.
He is expected to add some bite in Kotoko’s attack who have struggled to score goals in the second half of the season. The defending FA Champions will next face Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday January 25.
