“Albert Amoah should brace-up for tough times in Libya” – Chibsah

Former Ghana international Yussif Chibsah has predicted a tough spell for Asante Kotoko attacker Albert Amoah at Al Ahly Benghazi.

Amoah’s move to the Libyan outfit was announced hours after Kotoko’s 5-1 second leg CAF Confederation Cup defeat against Wydad Athletic Club in Casablanca. The record Ghana Premier League holders had lost 1-0 in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium before registering a 6-1 aggregate loss over the two legs.

Amoah’s departure elicited mixed reactions from the media and sections of Ghana Premier League followers who believe the striker’s absence will affect his former club’s scoring rate in the domestic top flight.

Yussif Chibsah, who played for Asante Kotoko between 2003 and 2006, has added his voice to the club’s sale of its top attacker.

“Most players who move to North Africa do so at the wrong time, and that is why they struggle. I wish Albert Amoah well, but it will be difficult,” Chibash said.

Amoah signed for Kotoko from Great Olympics last season, going on to score two goals in four games in the CAF Confederation Cup this campaign.

Asante Kotoko recovered from the poor continental campaign to sweep aside Karela United by 4-2 in a week eight Ghana Premier League fixture at the Baba Stadium despite Amoah’s absence. They currently sit in 8th on 11 points from five matches with three outstanding games to clear.
