Algeria confirm two stars ruled out of Uganda clash

The Algerian Football Federation has announced that forwards Baghdad Bounedjah and Youcef Belaili will miss the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uganda due to injury.

Algeria, who have already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup after defeating Somalia 3–0 last Thursday in the ninth round of qualifiers, will face Uganda on Tuesday in Tizi Ouzou for their final group-stage fixture.

In an official statement, the Federation explained:
“Baghdad Bounedjah suffered a knee injury during the match against Somalia, which will rule him out of Tuesday’s game against Uganda in Tizi Ouzou. As for Youcef Belaili, he sustained a muscle injury in the same match.”

The statement added that both players underwent detailed medical examinations that confirmed the nature of their injuries and their unavailability for the upcoming fixture. Consequently, Bounedjah and Belaili have been granted permission to leave the national team’s training center in Sidi Moussa to continue their recovery with their respective clubs.
