Algeria Cup: CR Belouizdad and USM Alger advance

Algiers clubs CR Belouizdad and USM Alger advanced to the Round of 16 in the Algeria Cup as the Round of 32 finished up on Monday.

CRB finished up the round with a dominant 5-1 victory over third tier side WB Aïn Benian. Despite the lower league opposition, last season’s cup runners-up utilized a strong eleven that imposed themselves after being held scoreless for the opening half hour.

Abdelraouf Benguit and Chouaib Keddad scored towards the end of the first half to give CRB the edge. WB Aïn Benian responded close to the hour mark but young forward Lofti Boussouar scored a hat-trick in the final thirty minutes to complete a dominant victory.

On Sunday, Houssem Ghacha’s hat-trick gave USMA a routine 3-0 victory over MO Constantine.

An early red card left the visitors from Ligue 2 on the defensive for the entire match and Ghacha capitalized quickly with his first goal in the 19th minute. Just before an hour elapsed, Ghacha doubled his tally with a finish into the top corner after receiving a pass behind the MOC defense and completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute.

The Round of 16 will begin next month. CRB will face Ligue 2 side ASM Oran while USMA are set to clash with USM El Harrach, who stunned JS Kabylie in the Round of 32.
