Faint hopes remain for Algiers giants CR Belouizdad, who stayed in the Ligue 1 Professionnelle title race on Tuesday with a 2-1 comeback victory over Paradou AC.
Le Grand Chabab conceded in the opening five minutes but stormed back with an inspired second half performance. Star striker Aymen Mahious scored twice to move CRB within five points of league leaders MC Alger and one point back of second place JS Kabylie.
Mahious showed his strength with two perfectly placed headers, first from a cross in the 56th minute and then from a corner kick in the 78th minute. The top scorer at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) now has an impressive total of 21 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
CRB's chances of regaining the title of champions remains small, however. Even though MC Alger were held to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday at JS Saoura, their schedule remains rather favorable with three games remaining.
There will be only two games in Algeria's top flight during the FIFA window. MCA return to action on June 8 when they host relegation candidates ES Mostaganem while CRB travel to face CS Constantine, who drew 1-1 in the earlier match from Tuesday.
Tuesday Results
MC El Bayadh 1-1 CS Constantine
JS Saoura 0-0 MC Alger
