CAF Confederation Cup semifinalists CS Constantine put an end to their woeful domestic form on Thursday with a 1-0 victory at ES Sétif.
In a less than captivating match, it was Zakaria Benchaa's free kick that gave CSC all three points at the Stade du 8 Mai 1945. The forward's low shot snuck past the ESS wall and through the legs of goalkeeper Tarek Bousseder who was left red faced with embarrassment.
The victory ends a seven-match winless streak in domestic competitions for CSC who still have a few games to make up on the rest of the league due to their continental obligations. CSC now sit in 10th place on the table, four points outside the relegation zone.
For ESS, the defeat ends a four-match undefeated run and halts their momentum towards competing for continental qualification next season. They are in 4th place, six points back of CR Belouizdad ahead of Sunday's clash at league leaders MC Alger.
