MC Alger are the new leaders of Algeria's Ligue 1 Professionnelle after the Mouloudia club won their third straight league match on Wednesday, a 1-0 result over visitors JS Saoura.
After a promising start to the match from JSS, the visitors put themselves into trouble towards the end of the first half when defender Fayçal Mebarki was issued a red card for a reckless midfield tackle. In stoppage time it was Zakaria Draoui who put hosts MCA ahead with a low finish from a cross by Larbi Tabti.
MCA should have added more goals in the second half but squandered some opportunities to keep the match a bit suspenseful. However, JSS were restricted to half chances and MCA held on to move two points clear of previous leaders JS Kabylie with one less match played than the club from Tizi Ouzou.
MCA will face last placed side Mostaganem on Sunday.
