MC Alger appear to have recovered from a poor run of form and are on their way to retaining the title in Algeria's Ligue 1 Professionnelle following Friday's 1-0 Algiers Derby victory over USM Alger.

A first half strike from Akram Bouras was the difference in a packed 5 July Stadium in Algiers. USMA's goal scoring issues continued with Friday's result marking a six game stretch where they have only scored five goals while conceding ten.

MCA are now six points clear at the top of the table, taking advantage of missed opportunities from closest contenders JS Kabylie and CR Belouizdad. With four matches remaining, the fixture list looks quite capable for Le Doyen who now only need to win two games to retain their title.

USMA are enduring a disastrous season, sitting in sixth place currently. However, they are in the Algerian Cup final and can secure a place in next season's CAF Confederation Cup if they are able to defeat CR Belouizdad in the final.
