Uncertainty at the top of the table in Algeria's Ligue 1 Profesionnelle has allowed JS Kabylie to take advantage with the Canaries moving into second place after Saturday's 3-2 victory over CR Belouizdad.

Russian striker Ivan Ignatjev opened the scoring for hosts JSK in a match where CRB were always playing catch up. Abderrahmane Meziane leveled for the visitors but once CRB striker Aymen Mahious was sent off with a red card, rising star Berkane Redouane stole the show for JSK.

The 21-year-old striker put JSK ahead at the end of the first half and his finish in the 84th minute was the match winner, bringing Redouane's total to nine goals in all competitions this season. JSK are now level with CRB on 43 points in the second place.

Both teams are two points back of defending champions MC Alger who could only manage a scoreless draw at home against MC El Bayadh. MCA did just enough to secure victory at relegation candidates US Biskra in their last match but continue to struggle, particularly at creating goals.

USM Alger's defeat at JS Saoura completed a poor day for Algiers' top clubs. Riyane Akacem's second half penalty kick moved JSS into the top-8 as USMA dropped their second consecutive defeat.

Ligue 1 resumes on Wednesday when USM Alger hosts ASO Chlef.
