A source within the Algerian Football Federation told Pan Africa Football that the federation has submitted an official complaint to both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) following Algeria’s exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Algerian national team was eliminated from the competition at the quarter-final stage after a 2-0 defeat against Nigeria.

According to the source, the complaint was lodged against the officiating crew of the match, with several pieces of evidence attached that the federation believes had an impact on the outcome of the encounter.

The full officiating crew for Algeria vs Nigeria was as follows:

  • Video Assistant Referee (VAR): Pierre Atcho

  • Assistant Referee 1: Djibril Camara

  • Assistant Referee 2: Nouha Bangoura

  • Fourth Official: Peter Waweru

  • Assistant VAR Official: Stephen Yiembe

The Algerian Football Federation currently has to wait for feedback from CAF and FIFA regarding the submitted complaint.
