The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has decided to ban away fans from attending the remaining matches of the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 season, as part of an effort to avoid violence in football stadiums.

According to El Khabar, the decision came following a meeting between FAF President Walid Sadi and club representatives where they were urged to continue supporting measures to combat stadium violence.

This move follows serious incidents that occurred after the match between MC Alger and US Biskra on April 19. Violent clashes broke out between MC Alger supporters and residents of the town of Ben Srour in the M’Sila province. In a tragic turn, one MC Alger fan lost his life in Ouled Djellal after being struck by a truck while fleeing clashes.

With seven rounds left in the league, the title race and relegation battle remain undecided, adding more tension to the upcoming fixtures.

The ban on away fans will officially come into effect on April 30. Matches scheduled before that date will still allow visiting supporters. For local derbies involving clubs from the same province, security authorities will determine the number of fans allowed.
