Ali Maaloul injury: CS Sfaxien provide medical update on team captain

CS Sfaxien have released a medical update on several players, as the team continues preparations during the early stages of the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 season.

According to an official club statement, team captian, Ali Maaloul is suffering from a knee bruise. The Tunisian full-back has begun an intensive treatment program and is expected to rejoin full training with the squad by the end of next week.

About other players:

  • Ammar Tayfur: The midfielder is progressing well with his recovery program and is expected to be available for selection once the international break concludes.

  • Nour Gharoui: The player has fully regained his physical fitness and is now at the disposal of the technical staff, starting from the current training sessions.

  • Onana: The defender picked up an ankle sprain in the match against Bizertin. He is receiving medical treatment and close follow-up from the club’s medical team.

  • Jamal Moutiba: He was forced off during the recent match against Métlaoui due to a knock. However, the injury is not considered serious, and he is expected to be ready for the next fixture.

CS Sfaxien have endured a difficult start to the domestic campaign, failing to register a win in their opening three matches. The southern giants suffered defeats to Métlaoui (2-1) and ES Zarzis (2-1), before managing to earn their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw against Bizertin. They currently sit 13th in the table with just one point, while Zarzis lead the standings with a perfect nine points.

Maaloul, 35, joined Sfaxien during the summer transfer window on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Egyptian giants Al Ahly. The Tunisian international signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2028 — coinciding with Sfaxien’s centenary celebrations.
