The 19-year-old Cranes prospect came off the bench for New England Revolution in the 69th minute, replacing Jackson Yueill, as his side fell 3-2 to Chicago Fire.
Oyirwoth’s introduction to the senior team comes on the back of his impressive displays with New England Revolution II in the MLS Next Pro League, where he has consistently caught the eye with his energy and creativity. Revolution coach Caleb Porter highlighted the midfielder’s upside and potential in post-match comments.

His debut appearance not only underlined his rising profile but also made him the 12th Ugandan player to feature in MLS. He joins an elite list of compatriots who have graced the American top tier, including Mike Azira, Ibrahim Sekagya, Mustafa Kizza, Edward Kizza, Steven Sserwadda, and Brian Umony.
Signed from FUFA Big League side MYDA FC in January, Oyirwoth also became the second Ugandan to play for New England Revolution after striker Edward Kizza, who turned out for the club in 2021.
Among Ugandans in the MLS, Azira stands out as the most accomplished, having clocked over 130 appearances with Seattle Sounders, Colorado Rapids, CF Montreal, and Chicago Fire.
