Allsvenskan top scorer Ibrahim Diabate scores again for on fire GAIS

After two indifferent seasons in Swedish football, Ivorian forward Ibrahim Diabate continues to soar to new heights with GAIS in the top flight Allsvenskan. Diabate extended his lead at the top of the league’s scoring charts on Sunday with a goal in GAIS’ 3-1 victory at BK Häcken.

The former ASEC Mimosas player finished off a dream start for the visitors at the Bravida Arena in Gothenberg, producing an instinctive finish to make it 2-0 in favor of GAIS after only sixteen minutes. Diabate stuck his foot out to redirect the ball into the goal after Rasmus Niklasson’s shot attempt deflected into Diabate’s path.

After a poor start to the 2025 Allsvenskan campaign that saw them only win once in their first eight games, GAIS are unbeaten in their last five games with four victories during that stretch thanks to the heroics of Diabate. The 25-year-old forward has seven goals and an assist in the last five games and leads the Allsvenskan with 9 goals to go along with 2 assists in 13 league games.

With over six years of experience now in Spain and Sweden, Diabate is enjoying a breakout season. GAIS are now in sixth place, nine points back of co-leaders Mjällby AIF and Hammarby. Diabate and GAIS return to action on July 5 with a home match against Malmö FF, winners of the last two seasons.
