Amad Diallo can even be better for Man United – Amorim

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim praised Ivorian star Amad Diallo following his superb volley that secured the team a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

United took the lead when Casemiro headed home his third career goal against Forest to put them in front. However, the advantage was wiped out soon after the interval.

Forest scored twice in the opening five minutes of the second half, to go 2-1 up. Morgan Gibbs-White levelled the scores up, before Nicolo Savona put the hosts ahead. But United got back on level terms in the final 10 minutes through an extraordinary Amad Diallo volley.

Amad improving a lot, can play in different positions

Speaking after the game, Amorim explained how Diallo’s goal lifted Man United and fans, and further singled out Diallo for praise.

“Amad has a lot of talent, he is growing up really fast. I think we have a lot of players that are young and talented but we need to help in all the details,” Amorim told Man United website.

“He is improving a lot, he can play in different positions, I think he can be so much better. More consistent in every detail, when he receives the ball, in build-up, when he is in the final third.

“You could see in the first half he had some opportunities. In a lot of games, he has that opportunity coming inside and the shot is not there yet. We are working on that, so he has potential to do better.”

On Diallo’s goal, Amorim said: “[It lifted] the team and our away fans, you can sense that if we have a little bit more time [we would have won]. I think we should have played a little bit more time today (Saturday).

“But we lost two points, let’s move on to work on the different things we need to improve, but look at the good things we showed today.”

Out of nine Premier League matches so far this season, Diallo has scored one goal, and provided one assist.
