Ivory Coast forward Amad Diallo has revealed details of his close relationship with Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo at Premier League outfit Manchester United.
Diallo was United’s hero after he scored with a superb volley to help the side secure a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
United had scored the opener when Casemiro headed home his third career goal against Forest to put them in front. However, the advantage was wiped out soon after the interval. Forest scored twice in the opening five minutes of the second half, to go 2-1 up. Morgan Gibbs-White levelled the scores up, before Nicolo Savona put the hosts ahead.
Against Liverpool at Anfield, Diallo set up Mbeumo to score the opener as the Reds went on to win 2-1. Diallo has now admitted he and Mbeumo have struck a close connection on and off the pitch.
Amad said as quoted by Tribal Football: “I think we have a good relationship, especially because he speaks French.
“So we are trying to have that relationship, not only on the pitch but even outside the pitch, to have that connection. He’s a good guy, he’s a humble guy. He works very hard in training.
“We try our best on the right-hand side but everyone is concerned. So we want to win as a team. It wasn’t easy at the beginning for him and for us. But the beginning was a start.”
The Ivorian added: “Now we are trying to understand the system and we are trying to do the best every game. As a team we are learning every day with the manager because we believe in the system. But today we are really disappointed because as a team we demand a lot.
“We want to win every game because we want to bring this club to the level where they deserve to be.”
Out of nine Premier League matches so far this season, Diallo has scored one goal, and provided one assist.
Meanwhile, Mbeumo, who joined United from Brentford, has scored four goals from 10 matches and provided one assist.
