Ivory Coast and Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has opened up about the footballers who have inspired him the most.
Speaking about the figures, who shaped his love for the game, Diallo did not hesitate. He revealed global icon Lionel Messi remains the player he looks up to, describing the Argentine superstar as both his idol and a constant source of learning.
While Messi remains his lifelong idol, he further revealed Wayne Rooney is his favourite player in Manchester United’s history.
“In my life, my idol was Messi, so I always say Messi because Messi is the player I still watch, I still try to learn from him,” Diallo told MU TV. “But at Man United, the player I really liked was Rooney.
“So, when they asked me, which player do you want to play, which player do you love to play in United history, I said Rooney because he’s the player I really loved to play with.”
In the current Manchester United squad, Diallo reserved praise for Tom Heaton. He said: “Tom, an unbelievable player, an unbelievable man.
“He talks with everyone; he gives advice to every young player. So having people like this in the dressing room is very important for young players like us because they tell us to be humble.
“And even when we do great things, they tell us to be humble and to do things right and to go step by step.”
