Head coach of Karela United Amadu Nurudeen has said that Ghanaian coaches struggle to get the free hands to operate.

Nurudeen, whose experience include stints at two time Ghana champions Aduana Stars, Samartex, King Faisal, guided Karela United out of relegation in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League after a short stay.

The former Ghana U-17 assistant coach spoke exclusively to Radio Gold. “It’s been very tough, very challenging but as a man you don’t give up in life, you need to keep going until maybe your legs can no longer carry you,”

When asked about the challenges that confront coaches regarding interference by club owners, the experienced coach admitted it has been challenging.

“Sometimes when you are very firm as a Ghanaian coach, you are shown the exit door but if it’s an expatriate who is very firm they say the expatriate is strict so it’s very difficult but all the same we as coaches we have to manage the situation.

“If a club owner wants a player to play, you as a coach have to let him play because he [club owner] pays you.

“If the player doesn’t do well next time he will not come and so there are problems there but it is how you manage it as a coach.”

The experienced trainer is the current coach of Ghana’s U-18 national team.
