AmaZulu FC co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has said his team will be eyeing a top-eight Betway Premiership position when facing Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening.
He said they have a home-ground advantage they must use against Sekhukhune at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
“We just need to manage in terms of fitness and stuff because we need energy when playing Sekhukhune,” Vilakazi said.
He said Usuthu, as AmaZulu are also known, should have collected maximum points from last weekend’s goalless draw against Durban rivals Golden Arrows at the same venue. The coach said maximum points in last week’s game would have seen them rising further in the log table from the current 12th place, four steps behind the fourth-positioned Sekhukhune.
“It is another opportunity to redeem ourselves and find ourselves in a better position come Wednesday. We might find ourselves in a decent position in the upcoming two games,” Vilakazi said.
Having taken over the team alongside co-coach Arthur Zwane while lying in the bottom half, Vilakazi said Usuthu could build on their current promise and climb further in the log table.
“If we find ourselves in the top eight in these two games, then we might focus on another achievement, which is top-five, top-four then top-three,” he added.
After Wednesday’s assignments, AmaZulu face struggling Magesi FC on Saturday while Sekhukhune take on SuperSport United on Sunday.
