Betway Premiership outfit AmaZulu FC have confirmed the transfer of Bafana Bafana winger Tshepang Moremi to Orlando Pirates, effective July 1, 2025.
It is said that the 24-year-old joins the Soweto giants on a three-year deal with an option for an additional two years, marking a rapid ascent in his career.
Moremi's move comes after an impressive 2024/25 PSL season with Usuthu under coach Arthur Zwane, where he played 28 league matches and contributed four goals and seven assists across all competitions.
His stellar performances earned him a recent call-up to the senior national team, making his Bafana Bafana debut this month under Hugo Broos against Tanzania's Taifa Stars in an international friendly clash.
Having come through the AmaZulu junior ranks and experienced a loan spell at JDR Stars in the South African second-tier league, Moremi's transfer to Bucs signifies his growth as a player.
He will join the Buccaneers in time for their pre-season training in Spain.
AmaZulu FC have wished Moremi well in his new chapter and stated they are actively working to build a strong and competitive squad, with further announcements on new signings expected soon.
"AmaZulu FC can also confirm that an offer from Orlando Pirates FC to acquire the rights to midfielder Tshepang Moremi has been accepted," reads the club statement.
Meanwhile, the KwaZulu-Natal side has also announced a significant squad overhaul, confirming the departure of 16 players as their contracts will not be renewed for the upcoming 2025/26 Betway Premiership League campaign.
Among those leaving Usuthu are goalkeepers Veli Mothwa and Andile Mbanjwa, alongside defenders such as Abbubaker Mobara, Sandile Khumalo, Mbongeni Gumede, Kwanda Mngonyama, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Thembela Sikhakhane, and Wayde Jooste. Midfielders Skhulile Manyoni, Rowan Human, Ethan Brooks, and Msindisi Kunene will also be seeking new clubs.
The list of departing players is completed by forwards Augustine Mulenga, Junior Dion, and Boniface Haba.
AmaZulu FC Director of Football, Pedro Dias, expressed his gratitude to the departing players, stating, "I would like to thank all these individuals for their contributions to our club and community. We are grateful for the great moments we shared together. On behalf of everyone at AmaZulu FC, we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
In addition to the permanent departures, AmaZulu also confirmed the return of Etiosa Ighodaro and Sifiso Ngobeni to their parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns FC, following the conclusion of their loan spells. Dias extended thanks to them for their efforts during their time with AmaZulu and wished them success in their future careers.
Dias added: “We wish Tshepang all the best as he embarks on a new chapter in his career."
